Junior School Library

The RIS Junior School Library is not just a reading space — it is a vibrant hub of guided learning and creativity.

  • A dedicated teacher-led library lesson ensures purposeful engagement with books.
  • English resource personnel select age-appropriate reading material.
  • Stories are read aloud and discussed, after which students create summaries, illustrations,
puppets, or posters inspired by the story.
  • Student work is proudly displayed on the library noticeboard.
  • Borrowing facilities allow students to take books home.
  • Silent reading sessions are scheduled regularly.
  • Each student maintains a Library Record Book noting the books read, main characters, and
    summaries.
  • Weekly newspaper reading sessions include a question-based activity, with winners
    announced and displayed.
  • Beyond the inner library, there is also a dedicated Mini Library open space — a cozy reading
corner specially designed for Sinhala reading.
  • The Junior School Library houses a collection of over 12,000 books, offering a wealth of
knowledge and imagination to young readers.
